The Dottie Event Center is an example of an adaptive reuse project which illustrates successfully repurposing buildings from their original need or service to meet present-day needs and services. The building was the original Fayette County High School gymnasium that was built in the 1930s and has been revitalized into an event venue. Originally 8,000 sq ft, the building received an addition that included a caterer’s kitchen, green room, and bridal suite bringing the building to approximately 12,000 sq ft. Between The Dottie and a second building, Triumph Station, is a 12,000 sq ft “Beer Garden” (Biergarten) patio with a water feature. This entire project is a public-private partnership.
