An Eye for the Community: Jeffries Eye Care

Dr. Amy Jeffries, Founder and Owner of Jeffries Eye Care, is committed to her community. At a young age while growing up in Newnan, GA, she was introduced to the optometry industry and began learning how to make glasses. During her high school and college years, she was gaining valuable skills in optometry. Amy knew she always wanted to be a doctor and it was her optometry experience that guided her decision to pursue a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree. After completing her degree, she worked for six years in optometry before opening her own business, Jeffries Eye Care, in 2006 in Newnan, GA. With over thirty years of optometry experience and fifteen years as a local business owner, Dr. Jeffries is proud to serve in the community where she grew up.

Growth and Vision

Over the years, Jeffries Eye Care has grown to a multi-doctor practice with fourteen employees. Doctors Anisha Patel, O.D., from Tyrone, GA, and Matt Brown, O.D., a Fayetteville, GA resident, work with Dr. Jeffries. The Jeffries Eye Care team provides patients with eye exams and they practice medical optometry, which involves managing diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and retinopathy due to diabetes and hypertension. They also perform eye injections, assist with emergency care, and prescribe and ensure the proper fitting of eyeglasses and contact lenses.

With limited space in their 2,000 sq ft office, Dr. Jeffries had the vision of building a new office. Embarking on the journey to build can be a tedious process but with the help of a consultant and Southtree Commercial, Dr. Jeffries was able to find the land she wanted and work with her project team on planning the new office. The preconstruction process was essential to her project. “By working out all the details upfront, Southtree could move forward with construction and we were not stopping or wasting time. Southtree stuck to our timeline from start to finish,” said Dr. Jeffries.

On March 1, 2021, Jeffries Eye Care opened their new 5,500 sq ft office at 185 Glenda Trace, Suite A, in Newnan, GA. Dr. Jeffries wanted a specific layout in her office that would be pleasing to her patients and staff. She evaluated her former workspace and it felt tight and cramped and had only two exam rooms. The new space shines with natural lighting, floor-to-ceiling windows, six exam rooms, a friendly workflow that allows patients to enter through one area and leave through a different area, pre-test rooms, and new equipment with the latest technology.

Dr. Jeffries designed her new building with two available tenant spaces, 1,500 sq ft each. In an active corridor convenient to Hwy 34 and I-85, these are attractive spaces for retail, office, or medical tenants.

Moving Forward and Giving Back

Dr. Jeffries and her team are eager to continue their growth. The Jeffries Eye Care team is reliable and committed to serving your optometry needs. With convenient hours during the week and on Saturdays, patients have flexibility in scheduling their appointments. As a strong supporter of Special Olympics and the special needs community, Jeffries Eye Care generously provides eye exams to the special needs students in the Coweta County School System. The Jeffries Eye Care team looks forward to the next local Special Olympics event.
